Nord-lock, Heico-Lock, Belleville LOCK WASHERS; Spiralock LOCK NUTS --- Any Good?

I am seeking a way to keep four X 1" axle nuts tight on my factory-new Howse disc harrow.

I do not weld. I am considering Loc-Tite.

I would prefer to replace factory low-tech split-ring lock washers with some improved nut-locking hardware.

What about specialty lock washers? NORD-LOCK, BELLEVILLE, HEICO WEDGE LOCK.....others?

What about SPIRALOCK lock nuts? .....others?

Are any of these particularly suited for maintaining axle nuts TIGHT on a disc?

Loctite is hard to beat if the fasteners are clean and Loctite primer is used.

Most discs I have seen have a shaft with a keyway or flat on them, a nut and a piece of metal behind the nut that bends up to loc the flats of the nut in place.

Not the Howse DLHT 16822 16/18. Nut and spring split lock washer only.

I am aware of established hardware.

I am seeking information on improved locking technology: Nord-lock, Belleville, Heico Wedge Lock and others.

I know what aczlan is talking about. You could do this with a flat washer and a cold chisel if you wanted.

If the shaft isn't keyed (ie: a round shaft), I might get a castle nut in the right size and drill the end of the shaft for a cotter pin.

This stuff isn't state of the art. These have been around for a good while.

Nord-lock- We use these at work. We call these serrated washers. For light duty applications.

Spiralock- These are pre-scored bolts and nuts. You can make these with a hammer and a sharp punch

Heico-Lock- Another variety of serrated washer.

None of these would I use on a heavy duty application like the axle nut on my disk.

Given the parameters, probably the best solution here.
If the disc spools are worn from running loose, nothing will work successfully.
Clean mating surfaces across the gang and proper nut torque are steps 1 and 2.
