I guess by now everybody on the east coast has felt the effects of this storm. It's been a doozy around here. Even though I'm 300 miles inland we still get some pretty big winds from hurricanes occasionally. But it's been a long, long time since we've had wind that has gone on this long with such intensity. Most of our wind comes from thunderstorms and they're over in a short time.

The wind started yesterday afternoon and blew steadily with a lot of high gusts all night. We are still under a wind advisory until tomorrow morning. Lots of folks in surrounding areas are without power and many of the schools in the high mountains are closed or running a delayed schedule.

I'll be glad when this one blows out.

I don't like big wind. Today will be a good day to stay in.

Be careful if you have to get out in this storm.

Good mornin' Sir!,

The last couple of times I have tried to respond, the power has flickered and knocked me offline.

Six inches of rain is a bunch in one day! I heard on the news that NYC recorded 7 inches yesterday. We were supposed to get a couple of inches that we need badly, but I only measured about 1/4" yesterday.

It's windy and clear here, we're supposed to be back in the 70's by mid week.

I thought these "Nor'Easters" were for you folks in the north east....????

Better tie your stuff down, if the wind here is any indication it looks like there's a lot more to come your way.

Hellooooo down there hudlow.
I agree w/you about the nasty storms.
Here on mid west side of NH we had just about everything thrown at us...rain,sleet,4" snow, winds gusting 45mph on/off...and talk about lumber up rooted also bracnches etc.. laying far as the eye can see YIKES...sooo much for the month of March being in like a loin and out like a lamb.

What a month to remember! Right now the temperature has gone up into the 40's and it is raining, but the winds are gusting to around 30 mph here.

Scotty, when I was coming through Burlington Saturday afternoon they were talking 12" plus on Sunday and Monday for upper elevations! Same with Plattsburg and west. By the way there was very little snow up north this weekend and all of the ice is out on the lake.

We just had a big pine tree fall down into the parking lot at work. It just missed a row of cars but it looks like a truck and another car took some damage from the limbs. If the tree had been 2-3 three feet over it would have taken out 8-10 cars.

Right before I heard that a tree had fallen I was in someones office with windows. The trees where really moving. I think the building funneled the wind took out this tree. The tree that fell was big and green but about 30 feet from the three story building.

We had one small very dead pine tree that fall near the road at the house. I hope that is all that happens. Lots of rain yesterday. I'm guessing 2-3 inches which is nothing compared to the 6-8 inches in the NE. The river was really up this morning. It was 6inches over flood stage yesterday.

Later,
Dan

Got 4.5" here Saturday evening, the majority of it came down in about 2 hours. Wind was relentless. I heard some trees snapping out in the woods near the creek, I need to go see what happened. Yard has some limbs down, other than that, we really needed the rain and I'm grateful for it.

Not sure how well these pictures came out...... but here is my basement. Its a fieldstone foundation, about a hundred and thirty+ yrs old. Its frequently damp..... and downright wet with "normal" storms. We actually have a stream running through the basement now. Not good at estimating GPM..... but its gotta be the better part of a hundred GPM flowing through there..... probably more ! Thankfully, there is a drain pipe in the corner.... if not for the drain, we'd have one heck of a problem on our hands !!! I keep telling Whats-Her-Name we "need" a backhoe attachment to put in some drains around the outside of the house...... but no luck getting to spend the $$$ on a backhoe yet. But..... i keep trying !
