Normal compression for kohler 15 HP motor?

Ha, well i swear the plug was getting wet but maybe i was thinking of the chainsaw i was working on... i tell ya.

So i started taking everything off and when i took the carb off i realized no fuel was dripping out as i turned it over. I took the bowl off and it was dry as a bone. Then i had a look at the fuel filter and it was also dry (but not blocked). So.... I am guessing maybe the fuel pump is bad? Is this a common problem on these?

Or maybe the line is broken to the tank, ill have to have a better look at that first.

Took the fuel pump apart and there was piece not seated correctly in there. Replaced it and it started right up.

Now i have to try and find some steering parts, the gear on the steering shaft is stripped and it wont turn left.

Okay, can anyone tell me if any of the steering assemblies on ebay will fit my mower? My model number is 917255692

I tried looking on sears, but they only list individual parts, not a complete assembly. Thanks for any info!
