Just so you know I'm not jivin you /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

This is the ski resort that is to my east by about 10 road miles. If you click on the anywhere you can get the snow fall amounts for the pass few days. Also the attachment shows a picture of a truck of the road. I didn't get to pull it out /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

I talked to a guy, who is on a mountain resue team, that said Hummers were not that good in the snow. Surprised me.

Derek thats one of those Dumbvees. Driven by one of those loyal skiresort customers. You know the kind---alot more money than sense!!!---Honey I don't have to slow down in the snow because I've got 4wd..

The other night we had freezing rain and snow roads were bad. Our road has a very slight bend and guess what. I get a knock on the door. Don't know this guy from atom. He say that he put his new Tahoe in the ditch in front of the house and saw my tractor so he knocked on the door. Guess it didn't have to do with I'm the only house for 1/2 mile with anyone living in it. So I fire up the tractor and pull him out no problem. I ask him how the heck he ended up in the ditch---his reply---I didn't think I had to slow down because I had 4wd... I had to bite my tounge from laughing in the mans face.

By the looks of the picture the driver came to a stop just in time. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I have a feeling a little extra help was need to get the hummer out do to pitch...

Some people just don't realize...that just because you have 4wd your still stop able more so in snow and ice.

Since the Hummer has been brought up. Does anyone know if the military version comes with the same price tag? They seem to have replaced jeeps, pickups, and other vehicles. The US Army alone must have millions of them. An Inquring Taxpayer would like to know.

I agree Gordon. I pull out a lot of SUVs especially out of staters. Unless I'm busting through a foot+ of snow I'll take my front wheel drive with good snow tires anyday!

Dumbvee -> I like it!!!!!!!

Alot of people don't realize that a 4wd with open diffs is the same as a 2wd with a posi rear. Your right about a frontwheel drive, great traction just have to remember to drive them different than a rear wheel drive. The only thing that my wife's front wheel drive lacks is ground clearance.

Through the years I have owned several 4wd vehicles. There is one thing that I have found about them. If you do not know what you are doing, and sometimes when you do know, they will get you farther into the woods than a 2wd before your get stuck in the mud. We do not have much snow to worry about in Alabama but we do have a lot of mud this time of the year. I worked in Saskatchewan winter before last and did a lot of traveling in rural areas (almost everwhere was rural). My coworker and I (both from Alabama) got our 4wd stuck in the snow several times. Fortunately, were carried a snow shovel, and survival gear, with us at all times. Except one time we did not have the shovel. We had to walk into the nearest town and borrow a shovel. One time we were luck and one of the great people there pulled us out. It saved us a lot of work because it was the worst situation we were in.

Yea, when you get stuck in 4WD your usually stuck good./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Got to go as far you can in 2 wheel THEN when ya get stuck you still got options.
