I have a fiberglass camper top on my pickup that weighs approx 175-225lb (I imagine no specs to back that up) I am thinking about building some type of lift for it to make removing it from my truck a 1 man job instead of a 4 man operation. I thought about rigging a block and tackle type setup in the barn but that is now home to the ole Kioti and there is no room in the inn. I'm in the idea phase right now, not in the planning stage but I figured with some of the other unique Ideas on here that someone may have some good ideas on this one.

Google "K5 top removal". The K5 tops are a very heavy fiberglass, about 250 lbs. People take the top off in the summer and put it back on so it's quite a common procedure versus truck caps.

You'll see a ton of ideas. There are block/tackle setups like yours, stands to slide it onto, etc.

Had two different FG tops that I had hangers for. The first was a '75 K5 Blazer (last year the whole top was removeable). For that I put 4 pieces of 1" SCH 40 pipe between the joists with arms that dropped to a few inches above the Blazer's body. The arms had short pieces of angle on the bottoms facing inward. I'd unbolt the top and get inside the Blazer and push the top up with my back. Wifey's job was to slide the arms in so the angle went under the top.

Next was a Jeep Wrangler. That is a lot lighter. I put 4 stainless eye bolts in the top near the corners and have 4 light chains hanging from the structure above with carabiners on the ends. The top is light enough for me to lift and hook it by myself.
