How about a desecription of your not so good modifications. Things you made and then took off, or wish you took off. My trench cleaner may be in that category. It fills with dirt and then you have to pull the dirt out by hand. I can't find the picture.

I don't know if this qualifies or not, but I modified my drivers side front wheel motor last weekend while trying to fix a hole in our crushed asphault road. I modified it from working fine.:) . to leaking oil like a sieve when sitting or like a small garden hose when running.

This qualifies because it is a mod that you wish you could undo.

Well, heck! If we're talking about those kinds of modifications I've got a few! :D

Welding chains on the back of my brushcutter. The ones closest to the middle got chopped off by the balde. I've since put on rubber mudflaps - much better. :)

Let's now limit this to intentional modifications.

I do believe that you have over stressed the shaft seal on that wheel motor. Some one else put a shaft seal on their wheel motor. I don't think it was to difficult to repair. Keep every thing clean if you do the work your self.

J_J,
Thanks for the info.
I took it off the trasctor and took it to a local hydro shop an they said it needed an entire seal kit and a new set of bearings and a couple other things. ($368.00 worth) I only have 79.6 hours on my machine. 65 of those hours are mowing...So I sent the motor back to PT and told them I only had 80 hours on it and they fixed it and are sending it back to me for about $90 plus shipping. I have just had to do without my tractor for almost 3 weeks now.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

My only intentional modification is trying to add a 12v cigarette type power outlet so I can use the magnetic work lights I made for my pickup. I have never gotten the power outlet to work correctly on the PT. The lights won't come on at all. They work great when plugged into the cigarette lighter on my truck.

On the 12v power outlet, hook it to the battery to make sure that it still works. Then check and see if you have a good ground where you want to mount the outlet. Install it and check it out. If it still doesn't work, reverse search your wiring.
