Please forgive my ignorance on this issue, but my NT204C has an oil leak. It is seeping from the seam where the block meets the rear of the tractor, just behind the oil pan. I am sure this is a dry gasket, or the like for the tractor has spent much of its life sitting, but I want to get it fixed. My question is should I attempt to make this repair my self, or is it so difficult that I should take it to a shop? If I do need to take it to a shop, can someone recommend one in the DFW area, preferably in Collin/Denton county?
Thanks!!!
Matt

This is a known issue, and time-consuming to repair. It involves splitting the tractor at the bellhousing, then removing both the clutchpack and the flywheel. That's just to get at the loose bolts that are causing the leak. Some add threadlock to the OE bolts and retighten, but I'm thinking that stretched threads might come into play here. Personally I'd first replace the almost certainly soggy gasket, then replace all the OE bolts with new. If you have the Y380 engine, I think they're M8x20. And I'd probably go with a harder grade bolt too, which I think would be 8.8 (metric). Threadlock optional.

In that area I would take it to Affordable Tractor. He is about the largest Jinma dealer in the US and not to far from you. Your NT204 is a rebadged Jinma 204.

By the way I though I had that leak also. I then cleaned the tractor and a day later I figured out it was leaking from the dip stick tube. Its threaded in. I took it out and put some thread sealer on it and tightened it down. When I took it out it was so lose I did not need a wrench.

I had that issue with my 304 Jinma - had to split the tractor and replace the gasket, plus I replaced the rear main bearing seal while I was there. If you have some help available and a flat smooth place to work, it isn't difficult, just time consuming with all the removing wiring, plumbing etc. I did it single-handed and I had to make some special jigs and stuff to do it safely, but I did get it done. I had a lot of coaching from Tommy at Affordable Tractor Sales there in Texas; without that it would have been much more daunting.
