Kioti RX7320 Power Shuttle Cab, Komatsu PC130-6
I have been reading and doing searches. Seeing that the engine is the same in all 4 models of the NX with the power delivery being different because of fuel flow, etc. Do you really see the difference? and where and when do you see it?

Oh boy, you have just opened the biggest can of worms on the Kioti forum. We've debated this heatedly at least twice, with staunch supporters of every position.

My position is if it's mainly loader and ground engaging work, 15HP isn't a huge difference, unless you plan on maxing out the tractor, in which case you need a bigger tractor. If PTO work is the main use, 45 HP isn't going to run the mower comfortably that a 60HP can. Also, if the price and size are close, 15 extra HP can't hurt.

More PTO power as I see it. 15hp gives you 3 more feet in mower blade width.

Ground work and loader work will be the foundation of what I am buying the tractor for. But a few years down the road, up and down the hills with several thousand lbs of apples, I am sure I would miss 15 horsepower. And there is also 15 hp. Difference at the PTO. Thanks for the replies

A 45hp tractor will run a 6 or 7 foot mower without difficulty. My 40 runs a 75" mower in high grass without even being at full PTO pretty easily. An8-10 ft mower requires more HP but is also much more expensive and unwieldy. More appropriate to use a utility tractor if going with that size mower.

The notion that 15 extra HP "can't hurt" is not a particularly logical statement. To run any implement at PTO speed will cost extra fuel for starters. There is zero benefit for loader work and traction rather than HP is often the limiting factor on ground engaging tasks.

15 extra HP puts $5,000 more into Kioti's wallet and out of yours. Think what efficiencies you could get from spending $5,000 on specialized implements instead of dumb mostly unused horsepower.

Agree, and we all know how convenient and cheap 9-10 ft mowers are.

Hold on now Ed, He asked what would you use 15 extra HP for and thats all I could think of.

I was agreeing with you.

There is still a bit too much horsepower worship around here. Certainly there are reasons to get a more powerful or larger tractor but folks really shouldn't accept the BS mantra that "more is better" without a bit of thinking through the pros and cons.

The pros of paying thousands more for 5, 10 or 15 extra horsepower in the NX series are pretty limited. As you mentioned, a bigger mower is one perfectly good reason so long as you really want a bigger mower. Not too many folks around here with CUTs that have bigger than a six or seven foot mower, even most of the boys with the 60hp Kubotas, JDs and Kiotis seem to settle on that size. I would love to see a photo of a Kioti NX with a batwing but haven't seen one yet. I do think it is fair to say that the vast majority of potential NX owners would be perfectly happy with the 45 and would have extra bucks either in their wallets or available to spend on better implements.

The NX60 does everything the NX45 does, except a little faster and it gives you a CAT 1 and 2 as options whereas the NX4510 is Cat 1 only.

I appreciate the thought you guys have put in to these answers. I've never bought a tractor and certainly don't want to waste money, either by buying the wrong one that is too small OR too big. Each piece of this discussion gets me back on the internet, looking up more details of the different things I will be doing on my land.

Pulling a sprayer up and down a 7-8% grade mill to handle 10-20 acres of apple orchard (eventual goal is 20 acres, although we are investigating some high density methods for some of the land. A big worry is having a tractor that is too wide to negotiate the space between rows.
Using the tractor with a root grapple to finish clearing the land and conditioning and grading the land to get ready for putting in trees.
Pulling a brush hog/mower
Digging thousands of holes to put trees in.
Carrying countless ( I hope ) bins of apples that weigh over 1,000 lb each out of the fields to the cidery.
Moving pallets of bottles from delivery trucks to the cidery.
Clearing snow.
the list goes on and on and grows with every thread I read and question I ask.

Thanks for all the help.
