I think my analysis and troubleshooting are going to to be put off a few days. Supposed to be like 104 degrees (F) here today, with a heat index of 110+. :fire::fire::fire:
I have also snagged my filter housing and tore that small section of suction hose. I replaced it with a clear piece of hose from Lowes. So far that hose has worked out fine for me. On the plus side, you can see the fluid going thru the hose.If that was to me, yes, it's finally resolved.
The first problem was the filter housing. Kioti apparently had a few bad castings, it looked fine, but the insisted we replace it before they'd send a new pump (which is what my dealer and I both thought it was). Well, wouldn't you know, that was the end of the problem!
I did have this issue come back some time later, this time it was my fault, I must have hit something that jostled the connection to the filter housing. So, 15 gallons of hydro fluid out, once again. Changed out the o-rings and seals on both the inlet and outlet (to the filter). I also used a hydraulic gasket maker this time that's rubberized, hopefully that'll let me survive a bump to the pipes again. I really need to have a skid plate welded up, the "problem area" is also one of the lowest things on the tractor and is designed in a way that's easy to snag if you go into the woods.
If you're getting bubbles or jerky movements, for sure, the first place to look is that suction side filter assembly. Clearly a weak point in the tractor design.
Well, here we are, a few years later, and the problem seems to be coming back. Same issue, air getting into the lines, jerky movement, bubbles if you look in the rear fill port. <sigh> Going to have to take a long look at it again, I did need to reseat everything on the filter housing a few years ago, perhaps it got bumped again and something is out of alignment?
Anyone else still dealing with this issue? Has Kioti issued any better "fixes" to prevent this from reoccurring? I'm wondering if it's the filter housing (again) that's developing a wear related leak? Seems crazy, but I know that was the fix once, if swapping it out again fixes the problem, there's clearly something very wrong with however they are casting those units; filter housings aren't exactly "wear parts"!
FWIW, my tractor has a hydro leak that is bad enough to be dumping about a gallon out every hour. Since it is getting cold out, my tractor came back to the Tinkerage and after trying to puzzle out the problem, I ordered hydraulic fluid dye and a black light and pressure washed everything.
As suggested above, it looks like it may be coming from the hydraulic pump, but everything is so slimed up, that I'm cleaning everything up as best as I can and will mix in the dye and use a black light to try to locate the source of the leak. Dye is a week out. Bummer.

I did. I had a hardline leak off of the pump and down where that hardline attaches to a bracket, a soft line going to the joystick was also leaking.Did you have a chance to sus this out Eric? Mine is giving me problems again, similar symptoms to before, air in the lines; probably not the same issue (I'm not leaking fluid) but maybe your problem can point me to somewhere else to look?
