Nylon Hose Protection - Can be cut?

Quick question for anyone in the know on nylon hydraulic hose protection - can I buy a bulk quantity, say 25', and cut it down to fit multiple hose assemblies - like for my HTL and log splitter hoses? I'm just not sure if you cut this material will it unravel like regular clothing material or stay as cut? Thanks

try a little heat at the ends of the nylon stuff.
personally I us spiral cut plastic loom its tough easily threaded onto hard to get to spots and you dont have to un hook your hoses.

Cut it to length then burn the ends...works great.

Thanks guys. Should have thought that heating it would melt it in place. Plastic loom is an interesting idea too.

I put the split plastic wire looming on my hoses over 7 years ago when new and it has worked great. I just use some nylon cable ties at each end to hold it on, they go bad after a few years and you have to replace them but the looming has stayed in excellent shape. My tractor has stayed outdoors all of it's life too. When a hose springs a leak it helps keep it from spraying everywhere too. I bought bulk rolls of it from NAPA

I tucked the cut end, into the sleeve and wove a nylon zip tie through the two layers, and snugged it up! Worked great! Same as SM. Gotta believe most hydro-shops are cutting off a 'bulk' spool. ~Scotty
