It's probably one of those"The company only knows" type things. If you ask 3 different dealers you'll probably get 3 different answers. The cylinders are painted when collapsed, could paint be strong enough to hurt a seal when the ram is extended? Most cylinders I've seen look like they weren't painted real heavily around said seal.
