In my area a knot free 12' straight cut of white/red oak for export can go as high as $2,300. Hardwood is high here. We do have a mill that ships export. You may or may not have that option being that far from the coast.
Find some local folks that work for a timber outfit and ask questions. A timber buyer may know he can have the logs shipped for export and not tell you. Then he winds up with all the money.
Most people that own timber have no idea what it's worth. With the export market being hot for hardwood just a few trees can turn some cash. In other words lots of folks give their timber away because they have no idea what it's worth.
