Hey guys,

Been recently looking a Kubotas (M7040 HDC's) and have found several that I liked. Goodyear tires, 2 remotes, cast rims on the rear.......

I have a question about the factory air ride seat. Do most dealers keep these on hand? I would definitely upgrade from the mechanical suspension to the air suspension. I assume the wiring is in place to accomodate the 12V compressor. I failed to ask any of the dealers this while I was there.

Does anyone happen to know if the air ride seat is made by Grammer? That seems like a big name is ag seats and see them in other color tractors.

BTW, I'm only a little over an hour from Barlow's so I paid them a visit. Massive inventory and very nice people to talk with, no pressure what so ever.

Thanks!

Our dealer does not carry them and when we bought ours I was told it would take up to six weeks to get one, so we took the stock suspension seat. I know Grammar makes the air ride seat for the M8540 Narrow, but I don't know about the rest. Robert_in_NY just put one in his tractor.

Thanks Triple R!

I started considering the seat after I had been our pricing so I didn't ask any dealers. I would suspect that these aren't in stock behind many parts counters.

I'll take a look at Robert in NY's post.

The air suspension seat in the M8540 Narrow is different then what they would put in the standard M series. The Narrow uses the Grand L cab frame and is extremely tight so Grammar used one of their seats with the proper base to bolt directly to my cab. It was a simple install for me, 4 bolts to remove the old seat, 4 to install the new and plug the pig tail wire into the seat and the power (which Kubota already had wired back there).

I wish I could help you with your questions but I would doubt any dealer would carry that seat as a standard stock item for your tractor. Maybe if they got stuck with it after ordering it for someone else. But it doesn't take long usually to order one. Mine had to be shipped to Messicks first and then from Messicks to my farm (long story but short story was local rep wouldn't allow Messicks to drop ship it from factory to my place). In all I think it took 10-14 days total from when I ordered it to when I received it and that included Neil trying to work with my areas rep. If you don't have that issue I would think it would be less then a week.

I just checked, the Grammer seat they used was the MSG75G which appears to be a customized version of the standard MSG75 Grammer uses. It is a low profile unit (and actually feels to sit too low in my tractor, I need to build a spacer for it to raise it around 1")

I have a Grammer seat in my New Holland TS110 Parts cannot be bought for them due to some liability problem, they must be rebuilt by an "authorized" dealer. I bought my NH with only 1700 hours on it, and the seat worked for about 1 week before going down. I have had it out 6 times replacing the air lines, valve/switch combination, wiring, etc. The replacement valve/switch would not work without grinding 1/4 in off the button to allow it to actuate the switch. I talked to the case/nh dealer and he said if the seat ever went completely down, it pinched the lines and you had to replace them. Mine pinched the wiring also and blew the fuse to the diff lock.

I would not take another Grammer seat on a bet! They are junk.

I have a TS110 I bought used a couple months ago. The air ride seat does not work. The seat is wedged up to proper height with two pieces of PVC pipe laid horizontally in the base. Do you have a recommendation for a different brand of aftermarket seat besides the Grammar seat?

Thanks,

I hope you have better service from your TS110 than I have. Mine shelled the injection pump at 1800 hours. Be sure to use a fuel lubricant... I bought a Wise seat for another tractor a couple of years ago and had not installed it due to the mounting problems. I installed it in the TS110 2 weeks ago after pulling the grammer out 3 more times. I was told that the grammer uses the check valve of the =compressor to hold the air. I installed a check valve from a truck, but the compressor gave up. I finally installed this wise seat that was bought as one of their returns/rejects, overstock... whatever. Give them a call and see what kind of a deal they will give you. I think it was $275 with shipping.

I talked to KAren Steele her email is listed in their web site. '

I have used this mechanical seat for 2 weeks now, mowing, and baling hay and it is very comfortable. I weigh about 300 lbs, so it is loaded!!!,,, It sure saves my tailbone. It also has enough adjustment to allow my wife who is 5'2" to drive it comfortably..

Thank you for the information. I'll check them out and see what I can find. Regarding fuel lubricant, I learned about that the hard way about 3 years ago with replacing the fuel pump on my 4630. The main shaft broke, but it took me a while to determine the problem since it quit like it was starved for fuel. I don't know if this is common issue with the Lucas fuel pumps or not. Anyhow, I now use lubricant in every fill up on all of my diesel equipment.

Thanks again,

Doyou know why the British Drink Warm Beer?

Their refrigerators were made by Lucas!!!!!!!!!

In all fairness to NH, I think my TS110 had double the hours that were showing. The gasket in the tachometer glass was displaced when I bought it. I had known the dealer owner and his father for over 40 years so I trusted them. I also was needing to do something quickly because I was caring for my invalid father who was dying from Stroke and heart complications from a Knee surgery. I traded a JX85 CIH for it and gave $7500 diff. The JX85 was 2 years newer and had 200 hrs less. It also had a loader with a separate joystick while the hyd controls are used for the TS110 loader. I now believe my TS110 was used to mow roadsides by a ODOT contractor. I like it, but I really only use it for baling hay. The woods Duall loader is overloaded without a bale on the rear for counterweight. The front end will get stuck in wet ground while trying to feed round bales. The countrerweight helps, but it has fluid in the rear tires. So It is just an expensive toy. Without FWA, they are helpless. I have a Belarus 825 and 8345 I use for feeding now, they are 4wd and really workhorses. The cab is more suited to my operation as if the A/C doesn't work, you can open it up and still operate.
