Oil & Fuel off road diesel cause dirty oil?

I agree, it is a diesel thing. BUT, this is primarily because of the imprecise nature of the mechanical fuel pump and injectors used in tractors as opposed to the electronic injectors used in all current on road trucks. In general, the electronic injectors are so much better at precisely controlling the flow of fuel that I can put 10,000 miles on my PowerStroke diesel and the oil is still a long way from being black. In fact, it will only be a little darker than when it was put in. But my Kubota will be totally black within a few hours of changing the oil, as will any mechanical injector diesel that I have ever seen.

Interesting. I think for most it is a mental thing. You see oil a different color then what went in and assume it is bad. I understand this is definitely not the case.

I agree with fishpick as I also live in the land of taxes with 30 acres but only pay 7K/year! Where can I get this fuel in Central NY area?

land of taxes? A 3000 sq ft house on 4 acres here will cost you $8000 a year

You "stick it to the man" by moving to another state with lower taxes! If enough people move because of this issue, guaranteed that the gvn'mt will change the tax laws to keep people from leaving. And you can get off road diesel from any ag fuel supplier, unless you are in a strictly urban area with no farmers around, in which case you are probably stuck.

Check with the local farmers in your area, I'm sure they'll know where the nearest supplier for off road diesel is. Our local FS can get it for us. I thought it was interesting last year when we went to Fla to see it sold in a number of rural gas stations in Georgia!
