I mean, we WILL be using it, right? And it doesn't go bad like gasoline, though it may need some treatment.

Maybe low enough to compensate for the price of a transfer tank?

have to keep it treated for sure the low sulfur stuff is less forgiving

Let's do some calculations.

First, we have to estimate the bottom price? Let's be stupid optimistic and say $2 p/gallon savings.

Second, how much fuel do we want to hoard? Let's be stupid and say 500 gallons. So we are assuming we are going to save $1000. It might take us two years to recoup the investment? That's assuming 250 gallons per year??

Third, how much will it cost us to purchase the necessary equipment to do this venture? Probably going to pay $500 for a storage tank. Another $100 to rig it up with a hand pump? So we invested $600.

Fourth, our potential profit is $400. It will take us 24 months to realize this profit. So for the next 24 months we will potentially save $17 p/month.

Fifth, would we borrow the money to do this venture? Probably not because the payback is so low. So why would we do it?

i wouldnt say that is going to last long/stocking up i go through around 200gal in spring, 75 summer, 200 fall, 100 winter on my stuff - i consider myself a small time user for sure. Prices dont affect my bottom line much with no more than i use

Just filled up the Genset (200 gallon). I live in Loudoun County, VA, the price difference between on and off road is not more than $.15 on average.
Put ~135 gallons in the gen tank @ ~$2.25 a gallon for OFF road fuel. Also filled up the On road tank (300 gallons) and paid $2.39 a gallon for that (3/12). About to fill up our Gasoline tank... waiting to see if the prices drop some more.
