Off to a good start

Do you have access to a dent repair Guy, we have Dent tech, and a few others, I had a golf ball dent left in comer panel of Van with a note and phone number, on my leased van, 2 week left on lease, well I had to get it repaired or face dealer paint shop prices. I called the Lady who left her number, and just asked to het an estimate, and let her know. Well I take it to Dent Tech guy, and you cannot tell where the dent was, but because it was on a seam, the paint cracked, just a hair line, he was so mad with himself he did not charge me, so I took it in for the pre lease return and got them to give it the once over and they said it was not noticeable enough to be repaired or painted. All this to say, I would use the Dent Tech guy in a moment, he has removed all sorts of little dent's on my Miata and I am always amazed, these guys have patients and all sorts of weird tools, cost $80 to have 6 little dents fixed 3 of which i never even noticed till he showed me them. PS the lady who did damage was so pleased there was no cost, her husband gave her heck for leaving her info, see got the last word in, in the end, honesty des pay off, most of the time.

I really appreciate the advice (and shared pain).

I couldn't find a Dent Tech specifically but a Google search turned up a dent removal specialty shop on the way to my office. If it's something they're willing and able to address, I'll take the hood off and drop it off on the way to work.

Hey Zxyrthe,

It's really funny - I made the EXACT same dent with a bucket full of firewood in the exact same way with my first CK-20.

I fixed it by selling the tractor and getting a new CK-20S.

Happy to oblige. That's my buddy JoJo. My wife adopted him as a one year old before she and I met. He's an old man now - 11 years old and probably about 85lbs but he was a beefy 105lbs in his prime.

Likes: food, deer poop, chin scratches, patrolling the perimeter, his mumma
Dislikes: deer, rabbits, strange cats, trespassers, folks with poor fashion sense.

Too bad about the hood dent but if I were you I'd wear it as a well earned war wound. You might need to repair it if you were going to trade it in but otherwise it just counts as the first scratch. There will be more.

I mangled one of the rear turn signals on my CK20 backing into a tree while bush hogging. I've pretzeled my bucket level indicator on my DK40se. I've bent the dipstick guide, bent the front axle guards, cracked my sunshade several times on tree limbs, and also mangled various things in my barn while parking or backing out. The list keeps growing. Kinda like skinning your knee as a kid.

So, I figure that cosmetics is really not what it is all about anyways with tractors and while each insult hurts a bit I try to soldier on. I remind myself that one of the prettiest and nicest young woman I ever met had a terrible scar across her cheek from a childhood accident. She moved forward with no self pity so I figure that insults and minor accidents to things like tractors (even brand new ones) are certainly no cause for concern. Besides you now have a safer tractor. You will be reminded daily of the need to avoid tipping your bucket back too far. Consider it a cheap safety modification that may save your life by reminding you not to tip a whole load of logs back on yourself.

Fantastic advice. It really does keep me aware of my bucket. It's just like when I hit my thumb with a hammer. That hurt so bad that even close calls made it ache.
