GC 2610
I sent an email to AGCO about the problems with my 2310 and recieved this reply today and thought I would share it with you all.

I recently purchased a GC 2310 and like it overall, except for the following:

--The manual for the tractor needs updated in reference to service intervals. It contradicts itself in several areas, especially in maintenance intervals areas.

--The tractor needs to have guards in place to protect the inner tie rod end boots while brush hogging. I've changed them twice now

--The tractor desperately needs cruise control for mowing

--and most importantly

Could you tell me if the deck is suppose to ride on the ground or be suspended by the lift links. Every dealer states something differently. Some say to let it ride on the wheels, while others state to suspend it, leaving the wheels a 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the ground. The manual is very vague in this area. If it is supposed to ride on the wheels, could you design and offer the rear wheels to turn like the front ones. This would aide greatly in removing and installing the deck. It would also help when backing up, while turning, as the read wheels have to slide and tear up ground.

Thankyou for your correspondance.

1. The inconsistencies in the op manual concerning service intervals have been brought to the attention of the publications department to be corrected.

2. The failure rate on the dust covers on the rod ends has actually been quite low, but your concern has been passed on to marketing.

3. Cruise control has been added as standard equipment on 2005 production models. Unfortunately it is not possible for MF to provide an affordable kit that will retrofit models built prior to 2005.

4. Technically, the mower deck was designed to float with the wheels suspended off the ground. However, there is no problem in operating the mower with the wheels riding on the ground other than, as you state, the rear wheels will drag as if you turn sharply. To aid in rolling the mower out from under the deck, raise the mower deck, pull the pins from the rear wheels, lower and pivot the rear wheels (not the deck), reinsert the pin thru a whole above the wheel assembly, lower the deck and roll it out from under the mower.

I will be looking at this as it is a Pain to change the mower deck.

I have owned my tractor since the latter part of April and have inconsistencies in my owners manual also. As far as the deck adjustment I basically set mine to run with the gauge wheels just lightly contacting the ground not bearing the full weight of the mower. I started in the float position with the wheels fully in the up position on the flatest area of my property. After making several passes changing the dial gauge only to get the cutting height that I liked I then adjusted the gauge wheels down to where they just came in contact with the ground using the dial gauge to fine tune. As the mower moves over contours in the ground the grass height remains somewhat the same. This I have found eliminates the scalping that you get in the float position without the wheels touching the ground. Just make sure to grease those fittings on the castors every couple of uses or so and don't forget the dial gauge setting.

I just looked at the mower deck and Yes you can trun the wheels to the side or to the front but what is needed is for them to rotate like the front wheels ..

And the cotter key's or pins are hard to hold in the deck..

The 4 wheels on my Bx23 MMM can be set pointing front to back. for mowing.
To mount or dismount the MMM simply rotate the 4 wheels one quarter of a turn so that they point side to side and you can easly roll the MMM under or out from under the tractor.

The proper setting for the hight of the MMM wheels is 1/4 to
1/2 inch above ground set at the current cutting hight that you are mowing at.

This is key you can't adjust the gauge wheels at one cutting hight and mow at a different hight.
