You can install any door look up high and be safe. But if your door knobs are round then just get the children proof door knob covers. The slip or pop on your knobs and require being squeeze to grip to open. Should be fine for a few years. Now if an adult has weak grip they may have issue with opening the door. Hardware stores should have them, even Walmart.

Man forgot to say, ENJOY THEM. It will not be long and you will miss those little steps. What a blessing grands are.

I did see the outer knob one, was wondering how much squeeze it would take to open, grip not what it use to be.

Found this:

Amazon.com : Child Proof Deluxe Door Top Lock : Baby

Apparently it can be locked and unlocked from either side of the door. Miss my grandkids being little; oldest is 25 now, youngest...twins...are 10 (see avatar). This was never a problem with them at least for our entry doors; toddlers, to my recollection, couldn't open an entry door any way. We have deadbolts that are keyed on both sides; I used those because they doors all have glass panes in them.

Oh, Sharn Jean says "Feed them candy and send them home". Onliest problem here, they eat candy, cookies, drink soda and clean out the frige now...and no place to send them 'cuz their mother works nights...!

Bet you do miss your grandkids when they was young...
This link has my intrigg, can be locked and unlocked from either side of door, bingo, but how does it work, I'll have to do some investigation, I see it's up high so kids cant reach it. My granddaughter cant yet open the main entrance door, but my cellar door and knob is really old, guess after all these years of use the knob got a little easier to open, I haven't noticed it, also it's a little lower so she can get a grip on it.

I have two great granddaughters - 4 & 6 years old. There is little benefit frightening them with stories of what may happen if they wander too far afield out here. I tell their mother, my granddaughter, and its her responsibility to keep track of the little "monkeys". I do move ALL my guns to my bedroom and lock the door when they come - my responsibility.

I have had numerous discussions with the girls and I'm sure the older one understands the situation out here - but then, we all know how kids are............

I have little concern for their safety when inside the house - the rule for outside is simple - there will ALWAYS be an adult with them when outside.
