None -yet. Until then FunBuggy (EZ-Go) will have to do!
Oh Boy, Oh Boy - Vacation has arrived - My favorite! (Thanks BlurryBill!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

We're packed up, got the clubs in the back of the van, the TBN hat is sittting on the dash, got the pooch an extra tick repellant treatment, wifey is somewhere around here, and tomorrow morning we're ready to go to the north woods for a week of - <font color=blue>whatever the heck we want to do</font color=blue>! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

We've rented a lakeside cabin in the north woods for the week. It really surprised me that wifey wanted to do this, because her idea of "roughing it" has always been a Holiday Inn with black & white TV!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Anyway, the cabin's a fully furnished 2 bedroom with screened porch, microwave, TV, etc. Roughing it????/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif We even have our own pier and fishing boat. There are at least three golf courses in the area (now you guys didn't think I'd go anywhere if there weren't golf courses around, did you?/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif). This will work out great. Wifey likes to sleep in, so I play my 18 early, and by the time I get back, she's just getting up and ready to go do things.

She's said that all she really wants to do is to sit and relax and read. I said, O.K. that's what vacations are for - to do whatever a person wants to do. Sooooo, while she's sitting around reading, I'm going to be out searching for - dare I say it? - TRACTORS! I don't have any idea what I'll find up there, but it should be fun banging around looking and searching.

My only real concern will be trying to get caught up on what went on here while I was gone!/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif I'm not looking forward to that! Well, I am, but - Oh, you guys know what I mean!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Have a great week - I know we're going to!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I hope I have a couple of tractor stories to tell you when we get back!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Have a great time. I just got back from 4 days at Lake of the Ozarks where I introduced my 4 year old grandson to the joys of being pulled around the lake on a tube behind a ski boat. He loved every minute of it.

Thanks, Ozarker.

A couple of years ago we took our vacation down at Lake of the Ozarks. Absolutely LOVED it down there. Beautiful country, some really interesting people, and some pretty darn nice golf courses too! Can't hardly get any better than that!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I live near there, about a 45 minute drive from my house. A great place to get away from it all.

Easy solution for that.....first day back at work, just program in the first 5 hours of the workday to catch up on all the discussion threads. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Just tell your supervisor you're researching potential equipment acquisitions for upcoming public works projects and you'll do just fine. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Have a great vacation...

Uh, Bob - How is that different from any regular day?/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I figure between home and the office, it'll take at least 2 days to get caught up. But what the heck - nothing wrong with extending the vacation a little, right?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

<font color=blue>"Have a great vacation..."</font color=blue>

Thanks! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Once you are a TBN'er, you don't enjoy holidays as much as you get stressed out working out how you are going to catch up on it all when you get home /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Hmmmmm /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif. I guess that would depend on what your defintion of good might be.

I can say that it was one of our more memorable trips!/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

All we wanted was to go to this nice, quiet lake front cabin and veg for a week. I could play a little golf, do a little hiking, catch up on some reading - well, you get the idea.

We had a great drive up there - up there being the Wisconsin north woods about 70 miles south of Lake Superior. We get there, and get into the cabin to find that it probably hadn't been cleaned in about 10 years! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif So, we proceed to do a little cleaning - just enough to make it "livable". We also decide that, just to play it safe, we'll buy some extra paper plates and plastic cups to use./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif We get ready to turn in for the night, and find that the sheets and pillow cases have rocking horses on them! Rocking horses?!?!?/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif O.K. - so what difference does it make, we do sleep with our eyes closed, right? I go to use the bathroom, and I open the door and I'm looking at the water heater! Huh?? Oh, I see. I have to squeeze between the water heater and the door jamb to get into the bathroom. O.K., so I squeeze. Just past the water heater is the toilet, and about 6 inches past the toilet is the opening to the shower. Yup - you have to step over the toilet to get to the shower, which, by the way, has more cubic feet of space (which ain't much!) than the whole bathroom. The sink, which measured 18" X12" is to the right of the shower, and the mirror is on the wall to the right of the sink. So, if I want to shave, I have to stand with my right leg by the sink, my left leg straddling over the toilet, and if I want to look in the mirror as I shave, it's about 1/2" away from my nose!

Sunday morning we get up and decide, O.K., we're going to make the best of the situation. After all, most of the time we're going to be outside anyway, right? So I take Bailey (our Yorkie) out for a little walk. We get about 6' away from the cabin when the black flies started dive bombing us!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Now I understand what all the New Englanders are talking about when they talk about the black flies!/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif Bailey's rolling around on the ground trying to keep the flies off her and darn near strangles herself in the leash. So we go running back into the cabin, and the wife says that she'd seen the whole thing and it reminded her of a Alfred Hitchcock movie!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif A little later I ventured out again and tried talking to the people in the next cabin, and before I had to go running back, I found out that they had been coming up there for 20 years and had NEVER seen a problem like this! So, we kind of laid low for the rest of the day, hoping it was just kind of a fluke (Yeah, right!)

Monday, I got up a little early to play golf. I get to the course, pay, and get out to the first tee. Before I swung my driver one time, I had swung my arms about 50 times! Hey, darn it, I'm on vacation and I'm gonna play some golf!! When I finished 9 holes, I'd shot a 44 (mediocre at best), but I had taken about 1,000 more swings than that./w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif On my way back to the cabin, I'd decided that the wife and I needed to have a real good discussion about the rest of the week. When I got back there, the wife doesn't ask me what I think - she says.."We're leaving - NOW"! Nooooo argument from me!! I think that was the first time I'd had a smile on my face since we'd arrived.

So, we came home and I cleaned the garage, mowed and trimmed the yard, put up a new awning over our patio, etc., etc., etc.

How was the vacation? You tell me./w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

But hey, thanks for asking Brad! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Golfgar4,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get to play more. 44 isn't bad considering all of the elements.

The black flies remind me of a story:

Here I was 8000 miles from home down in Uraguay, South America. I am working night and day but had decided to make the best of it and get at least one round in (with rented clubs no less). So I round up a couple of guys from the symposium and talk them into playing golf. The course is one of the "best" in Uraguay. It sits out on a little peninsula ocean. Amazing view. So we get out of the car and these guys (who have been here many times) grab three cans of mosquito repellant each. I start laughing and ask them what the heck is all that stuff for.

Needless to say I found out. Man - those things were large and mean. I was bitten to holy heck and I used the repellant the whole time. To no avial. The only good thing that happened on that round was that I birdied the last hole. Interestingly enough I drove the ball right down the tube. As I walk towards my ball to prepare for my second shot I see my ball surrounded by hundreds of parakeets. Of course they are in their natural habitat but I only see them in pet stores. Pretty wild.

Sorry to hear you had to cut your vacation short and that you didn't find any tractors up there.

Hope the rainstorms I keep hearing about on the news aren't causing you too much grief.

Todd
