kubota B2400
Kubota b2400 1600+. hours and a loader
it's cold here in Kentucky.

Just had out first real snow of the year. 6-8 inches. Day before yesterday, I took the b2400 out and using a landscape rake I scraped the 800ft gravel drive. temp was in the 20s.

Had more snow yesterday, had some more snow. So got the tractor out again this time with the grader blade to move snow again. it is 16 now. got one and a half parking spots cleared in the drive (about 6 to 8 20 ft runs) and the 3pt would not lift, and loader would not raise nor bucket roll back. Just dump and lower the loader. so I got a ratchet strap to raise the back blade so I could take it to the unheated shed I keep it in. On the way to the shed, power steering went out. got 30 ft from shed and it wont go at all. has plenty of super udt2. I checked the quick connects on the loader and all 3 seem good. when I push on the fwd or reverse peddle now it just screams. motor runs fine.

any ideas?

thanks

I checked the hydraulic fluid it was a little low. I topped it off before I headed to the barn. Did not check it once it stopped, was cold and upset. I'll go re check it once I warm up a bit. I did not see any signs of leaking fluid in the snow in the tracks out or back.

i remember years and years ago i was operating a tractor in montana in severe cold and hydraulics took a cra*. turned out there was water in the hydraulic system that had frozen up. after placing tractor in heated shop for several hours, everything worked again. later that same day it froze up again.

just a thought

That would be my guess too. Or a collapsed suction hose to the hydraulic pump. In any case the fluid is not flowing.

Well I went out to day to check the tractor. Hydro fluid was a little low, but still on the dipstick. I tried to start it to see if it was ok but could not get it to start. I guess negative temps last night and single digit temps today did not help. It would turn over but not fire. So I guess I'll check it this weekend when it's supposed to be warmer.

I would check for clogged filter(s). The first one I would check is the strainer (screen) in the suction line, if your tractor has one. On my B7800 it is located where the suction line attaches to the transmission. Do you have an operator's manual for the B2400? My manual shows where this strainer and the 2 transmission filters are located on my tractor. Good luck!

Today is above freeing so I went out and tried the tractor. I guess it doesn't like single diget Temps. It fired right up and ran fine. Got most of the slush off the driveway. When I was done, I parked it in the garage where it is a little warmer.

I'm a happy guy again ☺
