Well I solved my storage problem the moment as my tc would not fit in the garage. It went back to the store, but only 'cuz it was leaking hydro fluid all over the place. it should come back soon and I will be in the same tight spot. I called N/H yesterday and there is NO folding rops for this model. I guess my homework was not as complete as I thought it was .......jb

Re: oh man ...................................tc-30

Joe, the safety police are gonna be after me for this one...But, I have looked at the folding rops on the TC33D and I think it would be pretty easy to cut, weld, and create my own folding rops if I needed to. As I tend to overbuild everything, it would surely be stronger than any stock item (the last comment was designed to momentarily distract the safety police while I hastily exit this thread)

Also, the TC30 uses a two piece rops that is bolted (pretty light duty) at the top center. This presents an opportunity for some 'way-cool' gull-wing folding rops.

Good Luck

Put down the welder and SLOWLY step away from the tractor...

Let's all stop and think a minute here. For you and me using machinery that we own, OSHA (the safety police) does not exist. Now if we were hiring someone to operate our equipment, that's an entirely separate issue. Legally, we could remove the ROPS and only have contend with those who care about us and our own peace of mind.

Our real concern here is saving our own bacon if the blasted thing decides to turn turtle. Should we undertake modifications to the ROPS lightly, NO!. Can we do it safely, YES.

We are all willing to go out and spend a couple of hundred on something to improve the performance of our tractors or make life just a bit easier, why not take that $200 and buy some structural engineering time to make sure that any mods to the ROPS will keep our collective butts intact.

There is not a project that man can dream of that cannot be accomplished (double negative?), all it takes are time and money.

Have a great weekend and be safe!

Don

I was going to suggest finding a folding ROPS for another tractor in the same weight class. I then went out to my TN 65 and looked at the ROPS. It has a data plate with the tractor model number, a safety structure number, SAE number, OSHA number and a structure serial number. It sounds like they take these things seriously. I think I would live with it, if somebody got killed after you jacked with it there might be criminal penalties involved. Time for a garage modification! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif How much clearance do you need? If it's not much you could always let some air out of the tires and lose two or three inches.
