Well snow is still on the ground, so I got around to build my dethatcher/rake. The main tubes are 2x2x3/16" wall, angle is 2x2x3/8", diagonal braces are 1.5x1.5x3/16 and some scrap 1/4" plate. The width is 5 feet, hindsight 6 feet would have been nice!! Ironically my son suggested at time of photo a rake with wings!!! DOH!!!

I found single JD tines at Farm and Fleet for 98 cents a piece. I decided on spacing the tines 2 inches apart. Drilled 30 3/8" holes and I decided to spot weld the nuts in, this way only a wrench is needed to swap them out. I believe the tines will stay in place, but I put tacks on both sides of the tines to keep them from walking. Now just got to figure out some removable gauge wheels, stands, and it will be ready for paint!!

Nice weld job! And I like the spot welds to keep the tines from walking.

Here an idea... Since the frame of the Thatcher is locked in your three point, how about just a SINGLE gauge wheel in the center about 6" past your tine bar. The weight on the wheel should not be very much since all it is holding up is the frame with tines. And if you get to any uneven parts of your yard the Thatcher will self level (somewhat) Hey, it is Just an idea.

I use to live in Wisconsin and man do I miss those Farm and Fleets.:D

Oh yeah I got uneven stuff!!:D

Ya know I think I am going use your idea. I have painted.. no welded myself in a corner. The tines are not long enough for the 10"HF wheels I want to use.The frame from the top of the angle to the bottom of tine is 10-5/8. I do want these to dig when I want them to. Basically I have to go up on the gauge wheel frame to go down. If any have idea well appreciated if ya post them.

Chuck you may miss Farm and Fleet and they can send ya stuff, but UPS can't send mountains!!!!! :D Lucky dog you!!!
