Oil & Fuel Oil advise.......no brand wars needed

I finally said "$@*! it" and bought the Kubota brand 10W-30 - at nearly $12/gal - I probably spent $15 in gas trying to save $3 on a gal of oil. Oh well, if that's the last less than smart thing I do, life will be ok.
