I have a Yanmar 2210 that I've had about a year with no problems. There is a yellow oil cap next to the PTO gear selection lever. I opened it and I don't see any oil, so that can't be good. Can you tell me what type of oil should go in this spot /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif?
Thanks

I have found through research that Universal hydraulic/transmission fluid, such as JD303 should be in that reservior. Does anyone know the capacity? There is no dipstick, just a cap. Should it just be topped off?

On a John Deere 2210, that is the hydrostatic fluid filler cap. It has no dipstick. You view the oil level using the little window in the back of the hydrostatic trans (to the left of the rear PTO). The level should be 1/2 to 3/4 covering the window with the loader and 3 point down. Do not over fill it or you may have to drain the fluid. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Use JDM J20D or JDM J20C hydrostatic fluid.

I would assume that the Yanmar 2210 is the same as the Deere 2210 (Yanmar builds the Deere). I did not know Yanmar sold a 2210. See if the picture is the same as the trans on yours. I hope the Yanmar is the same so my info will be of use. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks Anthony.
I looked last night for the window, but I didn't see it in the area that it was in the picture that you sent. It was getting dark though, so i could have missed it. I'll check again this morning.
Do any Yanmar owners know where this oil level window is on the YM2210?

Ricky,
The YM2210 is not anything close to a JD2210. There should be a filler cap with dipstick just in front of the range shifter between your legs when sitting on the tractor. It should be a yellow cap you unscrew to open. If that is what you are already talking about, but yours doesn't have the dipstick, then you'll have to check with someone who has a 2210 to find out how long the dipstick is. You can also check with Hoye Tractor to get a new dipstick.

Thanks gbirky. After I spent a few more minutes looking, I found the dipstick. It isn't part of the yellow cap on the 2210. It is a black stick just to the left of the filler cap. I gave it a little tug and discovered what it was. I had never paid attention to it before and I don't know what I thought it was. But now I know and knowing is half the battle.
Thanks again.

Sorry for the mis-information. The information I have is for the YM2210B and YM2210BD. So it seems this is one of those minor differences between the original 2210 and the "improved" 2210B.

Don't apologize, I really appreciate your help on that one and you kept me looking for that darn dipstick. I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions as I get caught up on all of the maintenance.
