Does anybody know how many quarts of oil the bx1500 holds? I need to purchase oil for my 50hr and left my owners manual at my other house

I have a BX2200 and it takes 2.7 gallons for Hydro and just about 4 quarts in the motor. I am sure the BX1500 is around the same.

Check with a dealer, but I think 2 quarts is the engine capacity.

BX1500 Capacities:

Engine - 2.0 quarts 10W-30 or 10W-40 API class CD, CE or CF
CF-4, CG-4 can be used with low sulfur diesel fuel. Hi sulfur diesel fuel requires the CD, CE or CF. Total base number (TBN) greater than or equal to 10

Hi-Sulfur is probably typical of off road diesel, but that may not always be the case, may be subject to change, may be different at different suppliers.

* Transmission case - 2.7 gals. Kubota Super UDT fluid

* Front Axel (4wd) 2.4 quarts Kubota Super UDT fluid or Sae 80- SAE 90 gear oil.

NOTE: *Kubota Super UDT fluid - Kubota original transmission hydraulic fluid.

Coolant - 3.1 quarts 50/50 anti-freze/water mix

Fuel - 4.5 gals No. 2-D diesel fuel No. 1-D diesel fuel below 14 deg. F

Grease zerks - multi-purpose type grese

Hope this helps

Hint: If you buy one (1) 2.5 gallon container and one (1) 1 gallon container of Super UTD you will have just enough to fill the HST and the front axle. The bigger containers are more cost effective than individual quarts and also make good recepticles for used fluid. BTW, the HST in my BX1500 took just a little more than the manual spec'd. Make sure you are on level ground, lower the 3PH and use the dipstick as a telltale guide. You'll need a funnel with a hose attached to fill the HST. The fill hole is in a less than convenient location. Also, the 2-cyl engine in the BX1500 takes LESS oil than the 3-cyl engines in the other BX's. Be careful not to overfill! Just a few tid bits of knowledge a fellow BX owner might find useful. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
