Oil Change for John Deere 2955

I need to change the engine oil in my JD 2955.
Question: What oil should I use?
Is the Shell Brand Rotella at Walmart OK to use or Must use John Deer Brand?
What weight of oil also?

Don't have to use JD oil, but why not use it? Can't be because of the cost as it is so little more.

But it is your tractor to do as you please. It is your investment to keep up, unless that is not important to you. just sayin...

I've been using 15W-40 engine oil in my JD 4255 since I bought it in '93. It now has 11,400+ hrs on tach with no engine overhaul. IMHO Shell Rotella T is good oil

I would go with a real JD Filter or a WIX equivalent. Rotella Triple T oil is good enough. There are better oils but the stuff is entirely acceptable.
