Oil drain pipe came loose from crank case

Instead of the cap coming off the oil drain tube as it should, the tube and cap unscrew from the crank case. Can the tube be welded to the crank case? Thanks. This is on a John Deere GT275.

Ummm.... Crankcase may be cast iron if it actually is engine block it came out of... Don't think I would want to try welding to engine block if its cast iron unless you use a nickel based welding rod and have a way to control heat....

Might be good question to ask in welding forum...

IF it just unscrewed, I would clean thread in crankcase and on drain pipe and use something like LOCKTITE 565 thread sealant/locker and put it back together....

I had a quick drain on my Kohler that would come unscrewd constantly or would pull apart. So I replaced it with a brass nipple, elbow, and drain cock.

Yeah... Have quick drain on a Briggs on mower and it is mounted so short it dribbles on mower chassis when trying to change oil, next oil change, longer "pipe" and brass valve (drain cock) .... Probably going to find same situation on my standby generator at oil change...
