hi,i am new to this site i have a L3000dt and i am looking for a oil filter maybe a fram or wix but i can not find what filter to use.any help would be nice
Have a
L3000 DT also. Have always bought my oil filters from the dealer Leonard.
I own/manage a small auto repair shop, 5 employes, including myself.
At anyrate sometime you just cannot beat the OEM filter, often times the drain back valves and filter media are superior on the O.E.M. filters.
Before I started my shop 26 years ago I always used Frams on my cars. Have since seen information on websites which test filters indicating they are one of the poorest performing filters you can buy.
Ford techs have been reporting damage to the newer, 2002 up, V8s with the hyd. cam-phasers due to cheap oil filters breaking up and lodging debris in the internal pasages causing camchain, cam and follower wear and engine noise culmanating in the destruction of the engines.
I am not condeming all aftermarket filters but I am pointing out unless you KNOW the aftermarket filter you are using is a quality unit why risk it.
Ditto for air filters. Know a fellow who some years ago lost the motor on his John Deere field tractor due to a glue failure on a aftermarket air filter.
My closest dealer is 50 miles away, I simply order them over the phone and have them UPS delivered.
