Oil filter for TC29D got smaller?

I just picked up the oil and filter from the dealer to do an oil change on my TC29D. The new filter is smaller than the old one. The old one says "FIN 86546618" on it. The new on says "FINIS 087771912" and the part number is "SBA140517020". The dealer claims New Holland has downsized the filter. Is this correct?

I got the same story on my TC40D. The old filter looked about the size of the old small block Chevy filters, (AC PF-25).
The new NH filter is about the size of the filter on my LT1 small block (AC PF-52), and smaller in diameter than the filter I took off the tractor. It seals OK, I've been running with it. for about 8 hrs. now.

DA dealer here in bama says .They called NH a while back about it and were told the factory oilfilter is usually larger than the replacement filters...Told me it had to do with assurance of proper filtering during the breakin period and such.Sounds reasonable.He said even folks who have bought tractors from them for yrs often ask dis one and it has been that way as long as he can recall....The way I see it..IF NH says its the right filter ok....I doubt they would sell a product that would shortin the life of a product they sell...If they did would you buy a nother one...?

This is consistent with my experience on a TC33D. I think I've changed the filter about 3 times now without any problem.

Its the same thing with the TC21D oil filter. The replacment was smaller than the original. It was the right one. I did the research before i took the old one off. Mine has been on for 40 hours and ready for another soon before winter.
