Just to let everyone know I got a nipple to fit that extends the threads enough to use a N American filter. As it turns out a JIC coupler works just fine. Thanks to Greenline.
What took so long was I was awaiting for my dealer to get some filters (I wanted to have one that fit on hand before double checking threads etc). It turned out that he forgot to order them and then didn't get around to phoning me to says that they were in.
It cost me $56 ($53US) for an oil and hyd filter.
Now I have everything set to use N American filters which I can get from a number of places.
