Oil Filter Reviews

If I've said it once, I've said it a dozen times. Fram oil and air filters are the bottom of the line filters. The old saying, "You get what you pay for" is still true when it comes to quality automotive and tractor parts. Don't sacrafice filter quality for price.

I don't care who Fram builds OEM filters for. The orange ones you find in the parts houses are junk. Hold a Fram air filter up to a light next to an OEM air filter. The difference is obvious. Hold a Fram oil filter in one hand and an OEM oil filter in the other. The OEM filter will weigh more. Why ? Because the OEM filter has more filter element inside, along with a thicker housing and base.

Nothing has changed, just color wars in oil filters I guess /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I used Fram oil and air filters in all of my vehicles for about 30 years. No filter related problems and all engines ran HIGH mileage. 250K on a 79 plymouth volare, 180K on a 71 VW beetle, 85K on a 76 Toyota Corona, 190K on a 90 Subaru, 125K on a 77 Dodge van, etc . I had NO internal engine problems in any of the vehicles. Changed most of the carbs, starters, water pumps, etc multiple times though /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The main thing is to use a premium oil of the proper type and viscosity and change often.
