I was suprised that one VERY popular brand scored LOWEST in all ratings on each review. Again their marketing dept. chosed the brightest colors on a fancy box to sell their product.
You might want to try a search of the Oil forum. This also has been discussed on TBN before. :) BTW, everyone knows what filter you're talking about. :p

Thanks Mike for sending me to the Oil Forum. Lots of good info and strong opinions on what works best. So much info that it made my head hurt.

I played around with some numbers and figured it costs me about 75 cents an hour to stay with the recommended NH filters by changing them according to the maintenance schedule. I easily spend that much per hour for Dr Pepper on a hot day. The savings isn't enough for me to try anything else but the OEM products, plus I have yet to hear anything negative about the quality of NH filters.

Pat, the reason I suggested the Wix filters was because I have used them. In doing some research on this I have found some studies that confirm the Wix as being a good filter. For me, on a retirees budget and by virtue of the fact I get mine at wholesale prices, for me it works. If you have any problems with warranty please look at the information in the link. I hope I never steer someone wrong on an expensive piece of equipment. One of the NH filters costs me over 60 dollars and I got it in Wix for far less and as far as appearances one looks as good as the other to me. Was just trying to help there. Good luck with what ever you decide on. I don't abuse my equipment but I have sure put it through its paces. And never any trouble with this line of filter.

Almost every time questions like this get posted it's because people don't like the prices for NH filters. I suggest

1. Look at the price difference between NH filters and aftermarket ones.
2. Determine how many they'll use in a year.
3. Multiply the Line 1 result times the Line 2 result.
4. Determine if the total from Line 3 is worth it.

For me, it's not.

For my big ford and NH units.. there is only a couple/few bucks difference ont he oil filter.. and less on the smaller hyd filters.. and for the large hydro filter.. there isn't a cross. Same with inner air filter. Outter air filter is a huge price difference from NH vs Napa.

Therefore i run NH oil and hydro filters, and an inner Nh air fitler and a outter napa air filter. Instructions say to inspect inner air filter and if not dirty.. don't change it. I usually opt for safety and change both each time.. I also usually get less hours in between changes than is the interval, because I do yearly changes, and log less hours on the larger tractors, etc.

Interestingly enough.. for the fuel filters.. i also have to get NH.. as the application books at Carquest and NAPA pull up the incorrect fuel filter for my 7610s or 5000 go figure!!
