view of the last 1/3 side..... you could even use it in your truck or your boat. No need for multiple types of oil in those days. Wondering when this is from? Back then, just getting a quart of oil was very difficult. Does that hint help?? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Was without a doubt before my time, but glass jug and "difficult to get a quart of oil" points me towards WWII possibly?????, neat find though, would look great in the shop., when I get the shop finished.... LOL

You are correct. I came across a few cartons of these a number of years ago and sold them at the flea market. Some were full and unopened. The full ones fetched $25 and the empties sold for $15. They sold out in a couple of hours... probably sold them too cheap, but I didn't want to carry them around. Only wish that I had though of keeping the boxes that they came in also. Would have made for an interesting display. My garage is full of stuff such as this. Periodically, I will drag out another piece and post it for all to see. That is why I am known as the Junkman /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Although not quite as old, I bought a 1969 Ford at an estate auction a few years ago, and there were several interesting items in the trunk that dated back to when the car was new, including cans of Ford brand motor oil and transmission fluid, oil and air filters in the original 1969 packaging, and a few other interesting tidbits like that.

Best 100 dollars I ever spend on a vehicle! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Now how did the car and its contents get away from me? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thank you for the information. It was interesting to see oil in glass jars. I never saw that before /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We used to sell bulk oil (non detergent, just 20 or 30 weight oil). We'd turn a hand pump to fill our glass jugs with extended tubes for pouring into cars' fill points.

All detergent oils came in metal cans. Then they went to cardboard with metal ends, and so on.
