On my Ck30, lower right engine side, on top of the starter is a "box" about 3 inches square. Has two hose lines on it. The lower hose is on as NPT fitting and this is what is leaking. Only seems to do it when engine is running. Since all oils have recently been changed I can't tell for sure whether its engine oil or hydralic. I think its the latter. Can any of you tell me what this "box" does and if it is hydralic oil?

If you can post a picture it might be helpful.

I believe the starter is on left side and thats the hydraulic pump you are talking about? Think those two lines go to steering under steering wheel than on to front steering cylinder?

Where abouts is it leaking, threaded joint or what?

Gautier: I think you're right. Got enough dripped into can to get good look and smell and its hydralic oil. Its the lower hose which connects to an NPT fitting and it appears the fitting is the leak point.

Checked it good yesterday before mowing and the dip stick is still full so its not leaking much, although the residue and dirt underneath makes it look like a lot.

About done mowing for the season and thats the main use of it, so I'll let the dealer come get it and fix it along with the treadle which has been sticky since day one. With cool wx it takes longer for the treadle to loosen up and work as it should. Were it not for the treadle issue, I'd attempt to tighten the NPT myself, but since its still under warranty, I'll let dealer handle it.

Thanks for the input.

Sounds minor, course it could be a crack,,which if its under warrenty,is still minor:)

Stopped by dealer the other day and they opened up the parts pages to see exactly what oil line I was talking about. Their advice was if I wanted to do it myself, to pull the line off the NPT fitting, remove the fitting and put some thread sealer on before screwing it back in. Also he said the line itself was more likely the cause as it has an "o" ring (or somesuch) in it. Maybe all it needs it tightening.

My second issue is the threadle; I assumed it was the big gadget underneath with plungers causing the sticking problem. They said no, that it has absolutely no tension at all on the plungers. Problems they've had is the pedal arm itself, where the grease fitting is. Pull it, sandpaper it and grease it good. Sounds like a doable job.......so it goes on my "rountoit" list. :)

If that don't work, then I'll pay the $80 pick up and deliver charge and let them do it. Might do that anyway, being somwhat mechanically retarded.

I'm guessing you are talking about your HST treadle pedal sticking ? if so I wish you luck. Mine is headed back to the dealer for the 4th time, it's been lubed to death, new damper assembly, and updated return spring only to be told it's normal. After a call to Kioti it's going back again for "pressure testing". I'll keep you posted if you're having the same issue.

BJN644: what part is being "pressure tested"? What has the dealer been telling you?

I looked at mine yesterday with idea of pulling it off...that upper part with the grease fitting that the dealer said was the problem area...and couldn't see any way to get it off. Appears pressed on. At least theres no nut or any such to remove it.

From the several other posts that seem to have the same problem, i'm beginning to think these things are defective and Kioti is playing to the old shell game like a lot of mfgs do; maybe because there is no real fix available. I really love everything else about the CK30 HST except this treadle issue that aggravates the snot outta me.

Perhaps we need to start a poll?

The transmission itself is being pressure tested. I have been told that the tractor staying in motion for 60 feet after the pedal is released is acceptable. I say bull Fing **** that's acceptable. If I want cruise control I'll flick the yellow lever on. Michigan Iron has stated he has had to clean up the neutral valves in a few tractors to get the sticking to stop. I have mentioned the neutral valves to Kioti and they were the ones that said to take it back to the dealer for pressure testing. It's at the dealer now, but it's also some what intermittent, I was going up hill one day and was sticking so bad I took a video with my phone to show the dealer, I went well over 100 feet up hill. I'll keep you posted.

I should mention that I really like my tractor, everything about it seems to be well built and functions fine except that darn HST sticking.

Be interesting to hear what the fix is. On mine, once it gets thoroughly warmed up, the sticking goes away. Of course thats been in summer weather; don't know about winter as haven't used it lately. But, the fact that it goes away after warming up seems to suggest some internal issue other than a sticky lever.
