Oil leak

I have a 1948 JD tractor leaking oil from the left axle. There is a grease zerk on top of the axle. What could be the reason?

Hardened and worn out seal. It's a 1948 after all and seals don't last forever. '48 makes it an antique.

Your nearest tractor shop should give you a good idea of cost to repair. Do the other side at the same time….
