Hinomoto E1804
I have a problem with oil pressure lamp going on when motor has warmed up (on my Hinomoto E2804). Today I installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and after a cold start the pressure gauge displays approx 65PSI(it is a gauge in bar and it shows 4.5bar) at 900rpm. Now I searched the internet, and this seems to be a too high pressure. Also higher rpm results in even higher pressure reading.

What would be a normal oil pressure after a cold start and 1000rpm?

I don't think that the new oil pressure gauge displays a wrong measurement(although it is possible). I installed the gauge without filling up the hose with oil.

Could it be that air in the connection hose between the motor and the gauge influences the reading?

Also I read that the oil pump has a release valve which should open when the pressure has reached some level. I will try to locate the oil pump and check if I can remove the release valve for inspection.

it will come down when motor warms up, leave it alone

Thank you, Whis, so I will try to warm up the engine to see if the oil pressure really drops too low with warm oil, as the oil pressure lamp turns on after some 10 minutes of working at 2500rpm.
Maybe someone knows if the motor used in this Hinomoto is the same as in some US brand tractor, as if I will need some new crankshaft bearings it would be easier to get them for a US brand tractor.

Worked with the tractor for around 15 minutes, motor has reached its working temperature, but the oil pressure did not drop significantly - dropped from around 68PSI(4.7bar) to 58PSI(4.0bar).
Is 58PSI at 1000rpm still ok?

It's unlikely the engine reached working temperature in only 15 minutes. The water temperature was probably at operating temperature, but oil temperature takes longer to rise. Other than in really hot weather all the heat is going to the water for quite some time, then it starts heating all the metal, and finally the oil.

@GManBart thank you for this information. Then I will have to see what happens to the oil pressure after a longer time of running the tractor.

Edit: well this is embarrassing, but I just went to my tractor to check the model and it is E1804, not E2804 as mentioned before.

it won't hurt it

Although I am refering to a Semi truck with a Detroit Diesel engine , On a cold start my oil pressure is 70 psi at 600 rpm's . Once it warms up , i.e. oil temp is at least 150 degree's , it will drop down to 25 - 30 psi at 600 rpm's . Really don't think you are having any issue's .

Just curious, has this just recently happened or has it been like this for a long time.
65 lbs doesn't sound too high to me but it all depends on what the specs are for your engine.
High oil pressure is a sign of poor oil circulation, (could be bad bearings), when was the last time you changed the oil and what grade did you put in.
Have you tried an oil treatment to clean the engine,,

What is the weight of the oil? And what is the air temperature there? If you have oil that is suitable for 80 degree weather it certainly will be high at freezing temps. A good multi-grade oil should probably be used that is the recommended weight for the temps you experience there.
