After sitting most of the winter with very little use, I have noticed that the oil pressure on my YM1700 runs very high (60-70lbs) for the first 5-10 minutes when the RPM is above 1800-2000. Even after it starts to warm up, I have to throttle it up and down 3-4 times before the pressure is limited to the specification in the service manual (55lbs). Since the problem was not apparent last Fall, my guess is the ball and spring in the pressure regulating valve body may have trapper a little moisture over the winter months, which is now causing the valve to stick.

While it is a minor issue, just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem? Also, how difficult is it to remove the pressure regulating body? By looking at the manual it should be a piece of cake…but I know things are never as easy as they look on paper.
