Oil pressure

I have a 1981 L245DT an today after a little Bush hogging when I lowered the RPM's the oil pressure light came on. When I ran the RPM's back up it would go off but when I lowered them it came right back on. I checked the oil level an it was fine. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this.

My Ford 1910 did the exact same thing and it turned out to be the oil pressure sending unit. If that is not the problem have it checked out right away.

Oil viscosity breakdown is another possibility or dilution of the oil as a result of defective rings allowing fuel to get past the rings while running. Change the oil and filter and see if that helps. Another possibility is that the oil pump is worn and isn't working properly at low speeds. If the oil change doesn't help, then the next thing to do is to put a gauge on the engine and see what the true operating oil pressure is. If the oil hasn't been changed regularly, then a clogged oil pick up screen is another possibility, as well as worn engine bearings. There are many other things that I could mention, but I have hit on the majority of the main items to look for.

I have a late 70's B6000 and I had the same problem. Turned out the plug had fallen out of the front of the camshaft allowing oil to bypass back to the oil pan. I don't know if your model could have this problem, but I have heard of a few different models having this problem.
