I need an oil pump gasket for my Jinma 254 with a Y385 engine. They are paper thin and Jinma Dealers can not get them. You have to buy the complete oil pump. Any ideas where I could get gasket material that thin. Pat

Perhaps this is what you are looking for. They have many other materials too.

McMaster-Carr

You could also check you local auto supply store.

I will check with NAPA and Carquest tomorrow. I've just never seen a gasket as thin as the one I need. Pat

On NAPA's web site they have material down to 1/64" (0.0156"). How much thinner does it need to be?

If you need to go thinner than 1/64", I would consider the Loctite 515 mentioned above. It is very good product.

Loctite® Gasket Maker 515 Flange Sealant is a flexible, gasketing material for use on rigid machined flanges with less than 0.015" gap. OEM approved use where OEs specify 515 or anaerobic gasket (cures in absence of air). Eliminates preformed, pre-cut, paper, rubber and cork gaskets.

Here is the technical data sheet on 515...

Measure the thickness of heavy duty aluminum foil to see if it's about the right thickness. It's real common on IR oil pumps. My hand made ones just never did look quite as neat as the factory cuts.

Can't do it, like I mentioned earlier if you go without a gasket, it'll bind the pump.
In a pinch I've used heavy paper with success, the kind that they use on covers of spiral bound notepads seems to be the right thickness.....Mike

In this application, if you use paper, I suggest you install a gasket material that's labeled WOG (water, oil, gas). Automotive stores usually keep gasket material.

For thin gaskets on things that allow high clamping pressures, dead soft copper sheeting works pretty well. Hobby shops carry thin copper sheet for craft use, usually dead soft annealed. If you don't have high clamping pressure you'll be better off with a paper gasket treated with gasket compound. You just have to take a micrometer and measure various hard papers like file folder stock until you find the right thickness.
