Oil Seal Cub Cadet 1641

I have a leaking seal around main drive shaft that comes out front of my 1641 Cub cadet Lawn Tractor. How much trouble to replace seal, just pull the shiv off front and pull seal from outside, or is it more involved?

Just about what you stated. Just be careful when extracting the old seal. Do not damage the seal race area. You may have to drill a small hole in the old seal, insert a screw and pull out using vise grip pliers. If you have to drill a hole fashion a drill depth stop by boring thru a dowel or small piece of wood to limit depth penetration to two sixteenth of an inch. Also if you use a screw be careful on how far you screw the screw in, damage can also occur.
