Oil Spewing Out of Crankcase Filter

Hey, half-correct is doing pretty good for me!

I'm not sure how the lift pump could put that much fuel into the crankcase in that short a period of time, but there's an infinite amount of stuff I don't know about these things. As Greg noted, if there's half a tank of fuel unaccounted for, that probably can't all fit in the sump, either. There's evidently some further investigation that needs to be done. I'll be interested to hear what finally turns out to be the cause of the problems.

Thank you gentlemen for the information, I'm bringing it to my tractor mechanic on Friday and hopefully he can find out the problem then. Once I find out from him what the issue is I will let you know. I know that there is no way that I can burn through that much fuel by allowing my engine to only idle for 10 minutes at a time, it would have to be the most in efficient diesel engine ever made.

I'm just curious, can anyone please tell me who has the same tractor (2006 Jinma 284), how long it takes them on average to burn through a half tank or full tank of fuel, and what type of activity they are doing suche as plowing, mowing, loading, etc.

Whoa, wait. Your profile bio line reads "New Jinma 284 Owner (2-15-2010." I read no further, interpreting that to mean you just bought a 2010 model tractor. Now that it's revealed that we're talking 2006 model, you've fallen back in "which oil pan do I have" territory.

Okay, you win. But how often do unscrupulous people swap dipsticks?

In 40 yrs that is the first time I have ever seen it, but it sure make me think every time I check oil in a engine...
If there different configuration of engines for this tractor. it's like a box of chocolate's :licking:

My 2003 Jinma has 750 hours on it and its averaged 3/4 gallon of fuel per hour. Another way to look at it is the tank is 6 gallons and will last about 8 hours but I always refill at the end of each day before parking it.

I'm sorry if I was accidently misleading by saying that I was a new Jinma owner, but I am new to owning a Jinma 284 tractor and I'm new as a tractor owner. Sorry for any confusion but I bought this tractor with 132 hours on it and from the exterior condition it looks in pretty good condition for a 2006, but it was obviously not kept up on regular maintenance. I have been bring everything up to speed and making several repairs, changing out all fluids, etc. Once I get it up to specs and usual maintenance I'm sure I'll have many years of use from it.

My 2004 284 does the exact same thing and has since I bought it new. When the oil level is at the top mark on the dipstick it blows oil out of the vent which ends up all over the right foot plate and rear fender. But if I let the oil blow out until it gets closer to the bottom mark it stops blowing out unless I'm on a slope.

I've often wondered if the dipstick is the correct length. Looking at it, it's clearly hand made with a hand braze holding the stick to the handle.

Does anyone know the correct length of the dipstick rod or are there different lengths?

Last year I had the overfull crankcase problem. Tommy sugested that it could likely be the seal in the hydraulic pump. when I opened the pump up I found both a shaft and seal that needed to be replaced. Thanks Tommy
