I need to top of the HST. What type of oil is used in here? The manual just says contact dealer who is no longer in business.

Here is what my manual calls for in my T353 HST, RPM Tractor / Textron TDH Premium (Caltech) or TDH (Texaco), Chevron 1000 THF. When I did my 200 hour change my dealer told me any "Premium" hydraulic oil would be good in it. I don't know if you would have any trouble mixing unknown oils. How many hours on your machine? Maybe you should just do the change then you would know what oil is in the tractor.

It has 290 hours but the oil was changed when I bought it so this oil only has 90 or so hours on it. I need just enough to get it back in the site glass so I can move it to the shop to winterize it. I have a leaky PTO shaft seal hat I need to replace.

I use the Traveler Universal Hyd/Trans from TSC or Orschelens

What filter do you use? Can I get it from TSC? Is there a way to drain off the excess oil without pulling the drain plug? I think I have about a gallon to much in there. Went to start it but had a dead battery. It was 7 years old so I just got a new one. Will crank it up this afternoon but don't want to move it if the excess oil will cause any damage.

Pretty sure I and other have posted the cross references to the Hydro filters for NAPA. No idea if TSC carries something. I guess you could extract some of the fluid with a pump but my question would be why dont you want to pull the plug?
