Oil??

Ok one more question. I changed oil with Penzoil multiviscosity 10w30. I did a search here and there is some controversy about using oil that is not diesel engine oil. I never knew there was such a thing. The manual does not say anything about diesel engine oil but does list multiviscosity as an acceptable oil.. Should I drain and replace with "diesel" engine oil or am I ok???????

There is no "controversy"--you definitely need a diesel rated oil for use in a diesel engine. Diesel rated engine oils also come in multi-viscosities, but one thing has nothing to do with the other. I'll let the experts explain the additives and anti-cavitation properties, but I would swap out to the proper oil before I use the tractor much if I were you! Regards, Mike

A gallon jug of diesel 15w-40 oil at WalMart is $10. Cheap to re-do.
Semi-Synthetic 10w-30 is $15, and full synthetic 5w-40 is $19 a gallon.

Yes, dump, dump filter out, and refill. 10 minutes of your time.
I merely use WalMart as an example because they are everywhere.

Change it to diesel.
Same goes for antifreez use only the type made for diesels.

You can get an additive to normal antifreeze for diesels.

It needs to be different for diesels because the high compression flexes the cylinders and they make rapid movements which cause cavitation in the cooling system without it.

That said I've put many miles on diesel cars before I found this out here!

Yeah,heard talk on this but mine was a little low and I just topped off with that bottled 50/50 mix stuff you buy,same color.
If I was ever to change it,would probably look for antifreeze that said for desils,but not sure what the difference is or even if you need to use it,something about wet sleeved cylinders verses non wet sleeves[what ever that is].Guess it has something to do with where coolant flows in some and where it dosn't in others? Manual I think just says use antifreeze.
