I just don't seem to have enough energy these days. Probably just a matter of getting older. I'm 69.

Any vitamins/supplements you use that seem to help? Maybe something your doctor prescribed that's working? I need a little boost to get me out of the easy chair and into the chores.

Time to see the doc (or natural path doctor who can also order tests and blood work) They should be doing blood work etc including testosterone and cortisol to see where you are at. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.

Obviously none of us can make a diagnosis

That was a buzz kill. Not really looking for a diagnosis, just a general discussion. Maybe a "this worked for me" type thing.

First off, have your blood sugar checked. High blood sugar can manifest itself as chronic fatigue.
Also, at the risk of preaching to the choir, a visit to your local physician might be a good idea.
Using my own experience as a case study, same experience, worked until 70 but was simply trashed at the end of the day. Thinking a few weeks of retirement would reset the clock, I didn’t worry much about the issue but badgering by my wife prompted an appointment with an MD who uncovered sky high blood sugar and chlorestal.

There is an old saying that a “doctor who treats himself is a fool”. Hmmm...

I will add to the recommendations to see a doctor. There are so many things that can cause you to lose energy. I'll add cancer and low iron and depression to the ones people have already posted. Something that worked for one person is unlikely to work for someone else.

Ok this isn't going exactly as expected. Now I'm being called a fool. Just forget I asked.

I hate seeing the doctor, but I am scheduled for the 18th. Mine is a competitive shooter like myself and we always chat about guns and loads and such. A good doctor can save your life. You got good advice and sir, you are no fool.

There are many reasons why you do not have the energy you once had. But to solve the problem you need to determine what is causing it. Might be minor....or....

Good luck

I agree, you should get a physical to make sure there's nothing 'physical'.

Though I'm not your age, so maybe I can't relate, but...
I've found that sometimes, it's not fatigue, it's just getting started that's the hard part. That mental health ("mental outlook" may be a better phrase) is the key. That I'm not really physically tired, I'm just tired of doing this chore again, or starting it knowing I'll have to commit 1/2 a day once I do.

Once started, then conditioning comes into play.
I believe that conditioning too is 80% mental (i.e. being conditioned to feeling tired and sore! ... and conditioned to believing that you are capable of the task!)

We're capable of doing a lot more than we think we can (than we're conditioned to).

I started running last year. "Conditioning" myself from walking, to running 1/2 mile, to 1, 3, 4, then eventually 13.1 miles in a few months. Later did I realize, I probably could of ran the 13.1 miles my first time out if I believed I could and was "conditioned" to what that feels like.

No, you're not being called a fool... it's just an old expression.

I take a multi-vitamin every day, and, for the most part, no one can prove that it actually helps with anything. I just had a physical last month and discussed it with the Dr. He said the same thing. It probably doesn't help with anything, but it won't hurt.

I'm with the other folks here... if you're not having enough energy, enough to make you think about it, just go see your family Dr. to make sure it's not something lurking that you don't know about. Can't hurt.

For example, my father-in-law is now 90. About 10 years ago, he's sitting at the Legion drinking beer at the bar. A guy next to him says he was feeling kind of run down, went to the Dr. and found out he needed a stint. Said he was just a little tired, and got a little dizzy once in a while. Mr FIL said Hmmmm..... me too.

You have to understand, my FIL is a BEAST! He's strong as an ox, worked his whole life, drank at least 8 beers a day since the late 40's, and puts his walk-behind lawnmower in neutral and pushes it because it doesn't go fast enough (until he turned 89 and his sciatic nerve blew out). So we're talking about a strong guy. He goes to the Dr. and they put him on a treadmill for a stress test. Well, they can't get his heart rate up after about 10-15 minutes, because the old dude is in too good of shape! So they keep making him walk faster and increasing the incline until they finall get his rate up and find he's got 80% blockage in one of his arteries!

So he gets a stint put in at around 80 years of age, and went back to mowing his lawn and drinking 8 beers a day. Life is good.

Go see your Dr. ;)
