Well, I half to say so far this is the best money I or any one looking for a tractor this size can spend. I got the ck20s hst and the 120 loader and the new curved boom backhoe, and let me tell you this thing is great. I got the tractor and loader home two weeks ago, but they had order the backhoe. The backhoe came in this past wednesday so i took it out there a couple days ago and picked it up yesterday evening with the backhoe installed. Today I tackled the first project which was a rock sticking out of the ground where i roll piles of leaves to compost them. I was tiered of the loader bumping into it so i tried to dig it out, but is was just to big for the backhoe to pull out. So i dug a hole next to it and pushed it in.
So far the tractor is great it is definitely money well spent. The only two problems that I have had so far is that the hour meter is not working. It is the new digital one. I know that the tractor has run at least three hours and it still says one. I assume that whatever senses the motor running is not set up right, or connected. Does any one know where that sensor is??? I really do not want to have to tow the tractor all the way to the dealer for this.
And the other problem is that when the tractor is started when the motor is cold (about 35-45 degrees), it is rough starting and it shots out white/blue smoke. But after 15 to 30 seconds it goes away. I was just wondering if other peoples tractors do this two, or will it get better as the motor gets broken in. I have tried cycling it trough a couple times before i start it but this does not help. Any help will be much aprecated.
Here are some picks of the rock project.

Hi natem,

Beautiful machine you have there, congratulations. Sure is wonderful how much fun we nutmeg'ers get to have with all our rocks. My wife and her sister are redoing the rock walls, and I'm finding many project pieces just below the surface...these are some of the rejects........
...............
For some reason the girls only want flat ones..

Have fun with that new machine. How deep is that hole, and how deep flat-bottom will the hoe dig?

Not sure about your cold start issues, good luck.

Well the plan at first was to just dig a hole deep enough to put the rock in, but as i dug it got funner and funner so i went as deep as it would go. In the specs in the manual it says that it will go 76.33 inches, which looks about right

Hey Nate,

Welcome to the Pack!

I really like the looks of that new loader and backhoe. As far as the hour meter, it does not measure hours like a clock (60 mins), it actually measures rpms over a period of time. I beleive our Kiotis are calibrated so that 1 hr on the hour meter is the same as 60 mins only when the engine rpms are at around 2800 rpms which is where the rear pto is at 540 rpm. It should be marked on the tach. If you run the engine rpms less than that rated number than the hour meter will record 1 hour in more than 60 mins.

For the cold starts, that is normal for a diesel. Are you running Power Service in your diesel? Operating in temps below freezing, you should use some type of anti-gelling diesel additive to prevent the diesel from gelling and causing starting problems. As the engine breaks in, the smoke will be much less. After about 100 hours and a few oil changes, that Kioti will really come alive.

Also, be careful about letting the dirt piles build up on top of your stabilizer arms. You can see in the last picture that the left side stabilizer piston is under the gravel. Any little knicks in the piston that stick up will destroy the piston seals quickly.

Have fun!

Looks like the new KB2465 has a lever operated boom lock rather than the pin. I haven't seen one but am guess that given the little lever visible near the pivot point in front of the operator station. That's a nice feature and means you don't need to find a spot to keep the darn pin. Is there still a pin for the swivel?

Be careful running around in holes that deep. OSHA makes contractors shore them up so they don't collapse on workers. It's nice not having to worry about a bunch of OSHA rules when we work on our tractors but it is good to be aware of some of the reasons that they are around. I also jumped in deep ditches that weren't shored up when I was putting utilities in for the house I built. I didn't stay in them longer than I had to and I had someone else around when I did it. It probably wouldn't have helped much if I did have a collapse but at least someone could call 911. I don't have to tell you to have fun with your tractor. You already figured it out.
