OK how do you read sight glass w/BH on?

reading thru OM I thought I'd check trans fluid level via the sight glass. So what is trick to seeing it with BH on? I tried every angle/light position I could come up with . I can see the glass from about 2' away,but cant "see" thru it at a straight angle to get a fluid level reading.
Mirrors? telephoto pictures? Kreskin? or does BH have to be off to get a clear view of the little window? hmmmm....

Kreskin may work but I dont have his phone no.-altho he should know I'm trying to call him.
anyone out there with a 2305 etc. w/BH and know how to read glass w/o taking off backhoe?
