Hi All,

I got these a while ago, The bottom two are Stay Bays for the tow hitch on a Ferguson,
But what is the top bar used for? It's got me stumped.

Some sort of Top Link bracket to keep it from flopping around whilst not in use?

That was my first thought, but it has been bolted together like this for many many years and it doesn't look like there has ever been an eyelet fitted between the two rods for a top link, anyway it looks to short.
Hopefully someone will know exactly what it's for

Sorry answered the wrong question. The one you already knew.

Pin hole size may give a clue as to where it was used.

If there is a large hole on the single end, it may be a dedicated top link for a specific piece of equipment.

I found the answer!, or well Bob on another vintage tractor forum did.

The top bar is actually 2 x Draw bar stays (upper) bolted together incorrectly
and the bottom 2 bars are actually 4 x Draw bar stays (lower)

I'll pull them apart and reassemble the right way!

Thanks, everyone, John

I was thinking those staybars are different on our tractor, but I was going to wait till I had a pic of them to post. We called them set-height links.
They attach at the dual-width pin on the centre casing, never to the 3PL top link attachment. John, I'll take a pic and post it so you can see what they should look like - I reckon your top halves (currently bolted together) have been trimmed for another purpose.

G'day johmark.
The bottom two are height adjustable link arms they work in conjunction with a linkage drawbar which was flat and had i think about ten holes along it the idea is that the TE 20 fergusons did not have position control and it was not possible to set the hydraulic linkage at a set height so this was fitted connect one pair each side from the lift arms to the the long pin below the top link ,loosen the bolts holding the two halves together and adjust the height to wherever you want and tighten the bolts make sure that the hydraulic pump is not used when this assembly is in place otherwise if you engage the pump and operate the lift lever you will bend the arms if you look at the arms they have a small plate with a hole this held a small chain which was attached to the lift lever to stop you moving the lever when the assembly was in place.we used them when I was a young Fella on the farm.
Hutch.
