Now that my loader is OK here are some little things...

1. Hazard flasher. They flash a few times and then stay on steady, they might give a few flashes for effort. I can't locate a flasher module on jdparts.

2. Fuel guage. I show completely empty, can only put in 5-6 gallons till it wants to run over. The fuel guage then shows 80% full. Wassup? Is there a calibration? Isn't this a 10 gal tank? ( I looked down there and saw the bottom...)

I am getting ready to do the 50hr. Which HyGard should I use? 100 degrees is just getting warm here.

Mike, I had a problem with my fuel gage only it would bounce around. The dealer changed the sending unit.

On the Hy-Gard thing. I had the 50 hour service done and noticed they put the Low Viscosity in instead of the Hy-Gard. According to the OM, for Oklahoma weather, Hy-Gard should be the one to use. I called the service department and talked to the head mechanic. 'He' said, while at a JD school, JD recommended Low Viscosity for all weather. I did email JD support and receive a reply stating 'my' dealer knows what's best.

If anything ever comes up about me using the wrong fluid, I have the bill and the email from JD.

On my 4300, the flasher is built into the turn signal switch. I suspect that will also be the case on your 4310. That sounds like a waranty issue.

I had a similar occurence on a 4200. The float was binding on the side of the tank. My dealer made an adjustment (high tech term for bending the sender so it had proper clearance).

You'll probably want to make a list of the small problems and set up a time for your dealer to do the warranty work all at once.

I just did my 50 hr service. My manual states that the low viscosity is recommended. My dealer also said the same thing. I dont know where they wrote the manual but I (and my dealer) are in Massachusetts. Dont forget to get a large drain pan and a lot of paper towels! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mike,
I have the same problem with my fuel gauge, sounds like mine is off about the same as yours.
I did my 50 hour service a couple of weeks ago. You might check the filter sizes, out of 3 filters I only had 1 wench that would fit I had to use a screwdriver on one and made a strap for the other. One word of caution, after you open the fluid to put on the seal of the filters put the lid back on. As I was crawling out from under the tractor I kicked the gallon over, what a mess that was.
The service mgr. also told me to use the low viscosity fluid and I had to add more fluid than what the book said.
I'm having to get a new filler cap, I don't know if I cross treaded it or it was already done but I had a hard time getting it off so I think it was already done. The treads on the tractor are really rough.
If you get a 5 gallon container of fluid you might want to use some type of pump. I used a outboard motor lower unit pump I had, it took awhile but there is no way you can pour from a 5 gal. can where that filler is located.

Huh, you must not have power beyond. There is no way to pour from ANYTHING with mine.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

As for cross threading, that sure would be easy to do.

I pour the 5 gal into a one gal. From there I pour into a gooseneck funnel.

Thanks for the heads up!
