I use a cheap set of jackstands to set the front (tractor side) of the tools supported. makes easy unhook and hook with out killing your self, or using a BFH.

There is no easy to doing this. Just 'not as hard'!
Oh -- not much help, am I ?!

I added sway links to my VAC. What may help is to see if turnbuckles can be added in (look like your top link except that they have eye or hook ends). As I recall, the sway chains loosen when the lift arms are higher, correct? It may help it you place old trunk logs (stumps) under the front, then let the top link down (or place the rear on them too). Just thoughts. Look to see if there is a point where the sway chains are loose. And mostly all the sway chains are for is to keep the BH from running into the tires, so the chains being looser would be okay as long as that doesn't happen.
