Will I cause damage to the pivot pins and/or the end of the of the hydraulic cylinders if I submerse the FEL bucket in water to get bucketfull of water? I'm thinking that this would be a handy way to water some trees that are too far from the house to reach with a hose.

Not a problem. As long as your pins are greased they will not rust. I've been picking up water and working in water wth both my buckets and backhoes for over 30 years.

Not sure, Danny. But I haven't figured out a way to get a decent bucketful of water without most of it spilling out while raising it. So I keep a mud bucket next to the pond and use it to fill the FEL bucket in a semi-raised position before tottering off to water things.

That's right, it won't hurt anything as long as you keep it greased. BTW, be careful driving into the pond. It can get real sticky really fast.

Make sure you all the places that were in the water afterward. This will drive the water out that got in. Leaving the water in there will turn the grease milky and let the pivot points start to wear.

Same here - my bucket doesn't have enough curl when it's at ground (water) level to hold much water (or anything else for that matter). It needs to be up about hood-height and even then would only hold about half it's capacity in water.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to try and see if my bucket has enough curl. If not, then maybe I can at least lift it some and then fill it "by hand" with a pail. I don't have pond, I'll be getting the water from the kids' "easy set" swimming pool in the back yard. I hate to just dump it all on the ground and overwater the grass when I have a few trees that could use the water.

try filling it with the hose...easier than scooping out of the kiddie pool.

I think I'm gonna fill my bucket with ice/water and keep my drinks chilled for my next B-Q. that way I get to show off my tractor while we're all enjoying a "cool one".

Danny,

Did the same thing when I planted. But I used the hose to fill bucket, don't have a pond yet.

Don't have to worry about fittings this way either.
